Purdy Company designed and installed a custom Wildeck industrial work platform for a flexible plastic films manufacturer in Delaware, Ohio. This customer came to us looking to better utilize their existing facility. They were looking to create more floor space in their tight warehouse. The cost and space to add on to their existing facility eliminated that option so the only option they had to free up floor space was to expand vertically within their existing warehouse. The solution they decided on was to build a Wildeck mezzanine.
What is a mezzanine?
A mezzanine is an industrial work platform that is an intermediate floor between levels of a building that is used for increasing the floor space of the building without adding on to the building itself. Purdy met with the engineering and maintenance teams to design an industrial work platform easily accessible to get slower moving spare parts stored above the maintenance shop. This allowed for additional storage and workspace on the ground floor while keeping the spare parts close to keep the workflow efficient. This customer also included LED lighting on the underside of the Wildeck industrial mezzanine platform to allow for optimum visibility. Here are the specifications of this Wildeck mezzanine.

- Design Load: 150 PSF (pounds per square foot)
- Decking: 20 GA 1.5” Deep – painted Type B Roof deck
- Column Size: 6” x 6” with 12” x 12” baseplates
- Framing system: Wide flange beams and c-sections
- Included: 84 lineal feet of 2 rail guardrail, 84 lineal feet of 14 ga steel kick plate, (1) 2-rail 72” Swing Gate
- Stairs: 36” W internal OSHA 2-Rail L-stair with no platforms, closed treads and open risers
- Underside LED lighting completed by the customer after the mezzanine was installed
