Push Back Racking Project Overview

Purdy Company designed and installed a push back racking system for a long-standing, Ohio based customer. This customer approached Purdy to help them increase their pallet storage capacity due to the growing demand for their printing and mailing services. They had existing racking that was a 4 deep push back racking system. The existing system was over 30 years old, and an obsolete make and model. Purdy was asked to design, source, and install a new push back racking system to work with their existing racking, and add additional storage capacity.

Working with old pallet rack materials can be troublesome.

This project may seem easy at first inspection, but there are many potential issues when adding new pallet racking systems to existing push back rack. When dealing with legacy racking systems, it can be difficult to find an existing match and to get new materials to tie into the existing system. Additionally, racking manufacturers update and change their product specs over time to improve performance. This can cause issues with integrating new materials with old materials. Wear and tear can also cause issues with adding new material to old materials.

To avoid issues during installation the customer elected to add additional free standing pallet bays, consisting of all new material. So, we reached out to two of our trusted manufacturing partners in the push back racking space to collaborate on a solution that met their tight project timeline, budget, and quality standards.

Sometimes, selecting new materials saves you time and money.

We partnered with Heartland Steel Products to provide the uprights, posts, and beams, and 3D Storage Systems to provide the push back racking carts. Working with these two manufacturers made the project easy and cost effective. Both manufacturers’ products work seamlessly together, and we were able to sync the delivery of all the materials to arrive on the same day making the installation process easy for Purdy Company installation technicians and our customer.

Our customer was so happy with the project that they told us, “we wish all our suppliers were as easy to work with as you!” This is one of the greatest compliments Purdy Company can receive, and it is why we do what we do – to provide exceptional customer service and  meet all their storage and material handling needs. We’re extremely fortunate to have long-standing partnerships with Heartland Steel Products and 3D Storage Systems.  The collaborative approach resulted in a satisfied customer!
